Getting off to a Great start!
More and more education research is showing the importance of getting a good start in the primary years to establish a child’s learning ability through life. A child’s mind is very malleable and receptive to stimulus. The rudimentary skills of life and learning need to be implanted well to prepare the young person for effective learning and functioning intellectually, socially, emotionally, spiritually and physically.
Pre-school is such a very small part of your child’s day so we pack “hands on” instruction into each hour the children are with us, teaching the rules and structure of the basic skills which they can practice the rest of the day as they create and explore in what is usually less structured time.
Preparing for Leadership
Some students are simply ready to get going early. Other children’s parents realize the importance of making sure their child develops excellent skills and habits early. Research has shown that consistent attention to cognitive development and academic skills as soon as developmentally appropriate insures a child’s maximum learning potential. Our mission is to assist those parents who have a vision for their children to be spiritual, intellectual and emotional leaders.
Admissions Policy
Children are admitted to American Pre-Academy on the basis of perceived parent and student commitment to the program. We certainly believe that no one program is for everyone and we strive for a fit that will be the best for the parent and the child. Parents of students who qualify but for whom no opening is available may choose to place their child on our waiting list to be admitted based on application order and fitness score.
Students must be potty trained.

Curriculum
American
Pre-Academy’s curriculum, based on the proven Hillsdale College Mary Randall Pre-school program with the addition of weekly Bible themes and bi-weekly field trips and experiential learning projects, is designed to complement a healthy home life in preparing children for rigorous academic achievement by focusing on their cognitive and character development, grounded in the Western Judeo-Christian tradition, including daily literature, historical document and scripture memory work.Discipline
We have a very positive view of discipline centering on the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated. This rule has the great advantage of helping a child learn to put themselves in another’s place. Discipline essentially boils down to following direction well and keeping an orderly mind. Ideally every child will accomplish this him or her self but children must be taught and so discipline is imposed until it is internalized. Appropriate discipline is accomplished by wise teaching, which, of course is always developmentally appropriate and rests fundamentally in you, the parent.
When misbehaviors occur and become a disruptive factor to a child or children the adult present will implement the appropriate consequences which never include corporal punishment, striking, shaking, shoving or using harsh language. Appropriate implementations include: redirection, empathy and awareness through rational discussion, problem solving (negotiation) and, finally, time out. Parents will be notified whenever time out is necessary. Persistent problems may require a conference and, if uncorrected, withdrawal from the program.
Uniforms
To add to the sense of belonging, orderliness, unity, community and function, students wear the Academy uniform. The uniform consists of navy pants or shorts for boys, with a long sleeve white oxford shirt and a hunter green sweater vest with the Academy logo; a plaid jumper for girls with a white turtle neck or blouse with a Peter Pan collar. Both boys and girls may wear white polo shirts with embroidered Academy logo and navy shorts with a braided navy or brown belt in warmer weather.
Field Trips
Field trips and special guests are scheduled about once every two weeks. Written notification will be given to parents prior to each trip and information will be posted on the parent bulletin board. Such trips may include farms, zoos, lakes forests, offices or factories. Parents are always welcome to come along.
